Woke up this morning to an unexpected 4 inches of snow out my front door.
Initially, I wanted to go down to Capital Hill in Denver to shoot some b&w images in the fresh snow around Civic Center Park but forgot that the Martin Luther King Day celebration would be in full effect. By the time I got through the Colfax madness to the park, the snow…destroyed.
I decided to get myself lost in plain sight again. I headed west.
Eventually, I maneuvered my way through the city and up 6th Avenue to find myself in Golden. So, up Lookout Mountain I went (yes, I cheated and drove the switchbacks). On arrival near the top, the short overnight storm was rapidly breaking. I only had a few minutes before the dour mood was broken by the familiar – and less ominous – Colorado sun.
Shell and boots on. Camera and tripod. And, compose…quickly.
