Bundled with camera in hand, I was out to see Denver bring in the new year with explosives. At first, I was alone on the top deck of a downtown parking garage. The aperture and shutter speed were configured. The Thermos of tea was almost too hot. It was a nice night.
I was joined by another photographer shortly before the start of the show. We exchanged waves as she hurried to set her tripod.
And now we come to the new year, full of things that have never been.
“Hi,” she offered.
Extending my hand, “Hey, I’m Tony.”
“Laura. Cold out, huh?”
We shared a smile. And then the lights turned on.
